“Unaware of the brain’s default mode that so desperately wants us to run on our programming we’ve run on since childhood. Most of us are unconsciously hooked, completely, hypnotized by our own stream of endless mental chatter. If you pause after reading this watch your thoughts you’ll notice this. You might also feel frustrated and anxious — the subconscious mind doesn’t like being witnessed. It prefers to run the show.
To “awaken” is not a spiritual experience for monks. To awaken is leave the hypnosis of our own thoughts to become conscious. When we are conscious, we have access to choice.
It is only through consistent, new small choices that we find transformation.
Transformation can’t be given to us. It must be practiced. Every day.
When we respond in new ways, when we make new choices— our brain creates new neural pathways. With repetition, these pathways break up our old conditioning.
Be patient. Stay committed. Waking up in a lifelong process of returning home to who we actually are.”
